Moyer Is Pissed
Jamie Moyer is not happy with the recent decision for him to move to the bullpen. Fox Sports reported that he is "disheartened" by the move. Moyer also said that before the season he was assured by the front office that he would remain a starter, and there would be no such consideration that he would move to the pen. He also went on to say that he will not let this effect him or the team. In other words he is being a complete professional as usual about the situation. Jamie has the highest ERA by any starting pitcher in the NL.
I can see where Moyer is coming from being a veteran on a World Series contending team. This is just the competitive edge coming out in him. Throughout his career he has done nothing but proved he wanted to win. I don't think that he is at the end of his run just yet. He still has some innings left in him, and he will prove that down the stretch. Nothing is etched in stone so lets see what happens. Pedro has done nothing so far. Moyer should give it some time because I think that he will be back in the rotation by mid September. This time out of the rotation may do him some good. This will give him some time to work on location and anything else that he needs to work on. Also it will be a good time to rejuvenate and gain some strength back. It is a long season and he is not 25 anymore.
On the other hand, Moyer has to realize that he has been struggling a lot this year. Pedro deserves a chance to earn the number 5 spot in the rotation. Chalie is trying to put his team in the best possible situation to win. That's exactly what the Phils are doing right now. This is an experiment that may, or may not work out. Pedro is coming off an injury and he is a year older. Like I said before, over the past two to three years Pedro has become a five inning pitcher and that is it. Lets see what Pedro has on Wednesday and go from there. I mean worse case scenario is he stinks, and Moyer moves back into the rotation well rested.

Happ better get his act together here. 1-0 and he's got bases loaded, no outs.
ReplyDeleteMake that 2-0 one out.
ReplyDeleteThe Cubs have been hitting him hard all game. He cannot spot any of his pitches right now. It looks like the offense didn't show up again too
ReplyDeleteThe last paragraph says it all. Moyer has to realize this is what's best for the team. He's done nothing in recent memory to merit a spot in the rotation. I like that he's trying to not be a distraction. If this was the NFL he'd be doing sit ups in his driveway right now.
ReplyDeleteOh and Milton Bradley is a bird licker
ReplyDeleteRollins is the man! 2-2
ReplyDeleteHell yeah J-Roll! Bradley is a series 365 certified bird licker.
ReplyDeleteatta girl Rollins, 2-2
ReplyDeleteI think Pedro would be more effective as a reliever but I'm looking forward to see how he does tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou know what you have in Moyer - I still think you can pick your spots with him but he is risky as a full time starter.
Did I just hear Sarge is going to sing take me out to the ballgame? They better televise that!
yea he is definitely worth taking a chance on. Moyer will still see time.
ReplyDeleteHe sang last year when we played at Wrigley
Ho
ReplyDeleteI was too drunk to remember that
Remember what? hahaha
ReplyDeleteMarmol stinks
ReplyDelete3-2 phils
ReplyDeleteMarmol is terrible. Did you see that pitch that he hit Victo with? THe catcher set up high and away and he threw it at his ankles
ReplyDeletethat was foul
ReplyDeleteIs Myers ready to be the closer yet? This is pathetic!!
ReplyDeleteWow! thought it was over with Bradley's bomb and the Francisco hit it out 4-3 phils
