Joe Blanton takes on Randy Wolf as the Phillies and Dodgers meet in Game 4 of the NLCS. If my memory serves me, this was the Matt Stairs game last year that took the wind completely out of the Dodgers sails. The Phillies lead the series 2-1

Play Ball
ReplyDeleteFly out - 1 down
ReplyDeleteAngels bases loaded 1 out in the 10th..Gotta score
Not to pick on Darling...but he is an idiot.
ReplyDelete2 down
ReplyDeleteAnother different lineup for LA
ReplyDelete3 unassisted..1-2-3
ReplyDeleteBases loaded 2 out for Vlad
ReplyDelete4-4 B 10th
Mo Rivera got out of it. They had 1st and 3rd no outs..Wow
ReplyDeleteYoung James
ReplyDeleteRollins with a leadoff single
ReplyDeleteMissed the first half... how did Fat Joe look?
ReplyDeleteDamn - jimmy was running but Victo chased a floater. Pop up
ReplyDeleteUtley pop up
ReplyDeleteAngels sat the yanks down 1-2-3
ReplyDeleteDing Dong!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Howard!! 2-0
ReplyDeleteHe tied the record for RBI's in postseason games in a row. I think it is 8
ReplyDeleteTxt from R.H. "Black Babe Ruth"
ReplyDeleteJust looked it up. Last night he set the record for 7 straight games with an rbi in one postseason but I think he just tied the record over multiple seasons. Maybe TBS will tell us that. Well maybe not
ReplyDeleteWas it me or did Howard strike out three times before the homer?
ReplyDeleteYeah there were some nice pitches down the pike
ReplyDelete6-3 ground out - manny
ReplyDeleteWe're in Wolf's head. Did you see him arguing after the home run?
ReplyDeletek
ReplyDeletemeant backwards k
ReplyDelete2-0 thru 1.5
ReplyDeleteAngels win in 11
ReplyDeleteNice - I almost felt bad for Abreu for his baserunning gaffe
ReplyDeleteBut then I remembered why i didnt really like him in the first place
ReplyDeleteWhat happens if there's a balk with no one on base?
ReplyDeleteCould you imagine how scared Abreu would be to come back to Philly for a World Series?
ReplyDeletenot a balk then. you can start and stop with nobody on
ReplyDeleteHitting was never Bobby's problem. Never saw a trade where 1 team traded a good player in return for nothing yet instantly got better.
ReplyDeleteGreat play by Belliard.
ReplyDeleteVery good play
ReplyDeleteNamesake's boy at the plate
ReplyDeleteAnyone up for some random Phillies trivia?
ReplyDeleteHman's boy at the plate now
ReplyDeleteYeah - lets hear it
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at the Phillies page on Baseball Almanac.
ReplyDeleteWho was the opening day center fielder for the 2004 Phillies?
glanville?
ReplyDeleteByrd?
ReplyDeleteByrd is correct.
ReplyDeleteWho played the most games in center field for the Phillies in the 1997 season (53 games)?
ReplyDeleteWild guess..Wendell McGee
ReplyDeletenot even close...Here's a hint..I've never heard of this guy.
ReplyDeleteGlanville? I think he had 2 stints
ReplyDeleteDoc his glove has been nice tonight
ReplyDeletenope...I know Glanville
ReplyDeleteHow long can Blanton go today?
ReplyDeleteLet me think of the '97 guy
ReplyDeleteBlanton is playing for a World Series start tonight. He's on a mission!
ReplyDeletedamn
ReplyDeleteVery happy that Joe The Lumber gets the start tonight. He's pitching awesome as expected. We need more runs! They are going to make a run here.
ReplyDeleteCharlie harps on player loyalty yet Blanton gets his first start in game 4 of the NLCS, a double-standard?
By the way....I'm ashamed of my user name today, just noticed that.
ReplyDeleteIts better than Vicktastic...
ReplyDeleteBlanton did nothing to lose his job. The big guy is just versatile
ReplyDeleteSo how come first and third base umpires are not required to wear helmets?
ReplyDeleteNice- Welcome McNabbulous - yeah tough day for your name
ReplyDeleteBlanton is the most consistant pitcher on this team.
ReplyDeleteVicto covers ground out there!!
Another reach..Ricky Otero?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking because they are supposed to watch the ball. 1st and 3rd base coaches are watching the pitcher and the runner
ReplyDeleteGotta get out of this B
ReplyDeleteHow bout Danny Tartabull Spider?
ReplyDeleteNope, Nope
ReplyDeleteWhat took the ump so long to call that fair?
'97 was the Rob Ducey era right? not Rob Ducey?
ReplyDeleteTartabull played 1 game didnt he...Great free agent signing!
ReplyDeleteAmaro?
ReplyDeleteShit
ReplyDeleteDucey is my hero! Not Amaro or Ducey!
ReplyDeleteDamn! Need to get out of this with only one run.
Can I give this answer to you? No one is going to get it.
ReplyDeleteEventually one will take it off the noggin
ReplyDeleteWrite a letter to Selig. Get your name out there
ReplyDeleteSit this bum down!
ReplyDeleteBEAT LA!...BEAT LA!!...BEAT LA!!!!
ReplyDeletecrowds needs to get juiced...
I think I just heard Namesake yell - F' you J Martin!!
ReplyDeleteCasey Blake will end it for us.
ReplyDeleteCanadian pu$$y
ReplyDeleteBlanton needs to get out of this. He'll be fine.
ReplyDeletec'mon. 2 runs isnt bad
ReplyDeletecan someone please tell me what the J stands for? Probably Jaime or some shit like that.
ReplyDeleteatta boy!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood throw Utley. You know he throught twice about that!
ReplyDeleteI kind of remember it was a tribute to his mom or something..not sure exactly
ReplyDeleteBats have to wake up. Lets go PHILS!
ReplyDeleteAnswer is Midre Cummings
ReplyDeleteDodgers are gonna give us a fight here...
ReplyDeleteWhat's everyone's take on Hamels thus far? Is he totally just lost this year or does he have two good starts in him to salvage the year?
I hate him, but he needs to come back if we're going to win the World Series.
ReplyDeleteWould never had gotten that
ReplyDeleteI have trust in Hamels..He just can't let things get to him - thats been the problem. I'll see him throw on Wednesday
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about him?
ReplyDeleteHates a strong word for your defending NLCS and WS MVP spider
ReplyDeleteI agree..short memory
ReplyDeleteActually I think Moyer is going to help him a lot between now and his next start.
ReplyDeleteI think he's too talented to not get out of this slump.
I'm also very glad that he apologized for his actions towards Rollins/Utley.
McNabbulous..Remember, I hated him during the playoffs/world series last year.
ReplyDeleteI know he's a great pitcher, but I just don't like him.
I think he is due for a gem
ReplyDeleteHman - get in on this..What are your thoughts on Hamels?
ReplyDeleteWolf is dealing right now
ReplyDeleteDamn ex phils
ReplyDeleteLets get some more trivia
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely not the type of player whose jersey I'd buy (I have a Howard) but I give him all of the respect in the world bc he brought us our first championship in 25 years.
ReplyDeleteLee is everything Hamels is not. I bet you love Lee.
I think he is pitching no different then the reg season, so like doc I think he is due for a great outing but he will not be consistent for the rest of the post
ReplyDeleteWho was the opening day starter for the 2001 Phillies?
ReplyDeleteI'll give respect to Hamels because he was amazing last year. I just personally don't like him.
I have a Thome Jersey..pissed I can't wear it..Even though he is still on payroll
ReplyDeleteHamels problem is that he didn't really prepare in the offseason and he never really got it back.
ReplyDeleteKevin Millwood
ReplyDeleteI do like Lee a lot, you're right.
ReplyDeletePerson or Wolf
ReplyDeleteIs there another past/present/future Phila athlete that is similar to Hamels?
ReplyDeleteMillwood is incorrect
ReplyDeleteBTW - this live blog is the $hit - i love this. It's like having a great sports debate at the bar watching the game, but not really at the bar haha. Can we curse mildly on here or will they kick us off?
ReplyDeleteI heard lefty was a little off but I can't Hamels in his class
ReplyDeletePerson and Wolf are incorrect.
ReplyDeleteRicky Waters? Is that Fair?
"I won't play unless we're in the race"
"For who, for what?"
Damn Kemp
ReplyDeleteShit!!!
ReplyDeleteHe almost caught that.
ReplyDeleteI dont buy that he is that selfish. He is a pampered routine guy, thats all.
ReplyDeleteOmar Dall? Scub they got for Schilling? Not Padilla?
Omar Daal is correct.
ReplyDeleteSorry, the Ricky Waters was below the belt. I don't even believe that.
You can say whatever you want #5.
ReplyDeleteMcNabbulous...Curse away brother
ReplyDeleteThe Ricky Watters analogy is a borderline violation.
ReplyDeleteHe's a California pampered routine guy that if he didn't play out of his mind last postseason would probably get run out of town by the fans.
Funny you bring up Schill. There were some rumblings that he was looking to come back for one final postseason run. Imagine him pitching tonight.
ReplyDeleteHe might still get run out of town. His wife is going to take him to LA once he's free agent eligible.
ReplyDeleteImagine Schill and Martinez in your bullpen?
ReplyDeleteDo you take out Blanton here?
ReplyDeleteThink Happ can finish the game? I am terrified of the bullpen
ReplyDeleteIF Ruiz gets on yes. This would be a good spot for Happ.
ReplyDeleteThese hitters need to work a few walks!!!
ReplyDeleteIf he bats I prob would..Just cause I need runs and Happ can pitch innings
ReplyDeleteWe would need to double the size of the bullpen for their EGOs.
ReplyDeleteThere's the walk!!!
That looked like a strike.
ReplyDeleteAlright chooch
ReplyDeleteCome on Blanton, go yard!
ReplyDeleteHe's pitching around Blanton. He's scared
ReplyDeleteDare I say it...Similar game as last year where Phils were down until Victo homered and then Stairs hit that bomb? I love this team
ReplyDeleteI like the call. Maybe Pedro Feliz is this year's hero.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta pinch hit there!!!
ReplyDeleteMore trivia. so far I have been out of my league. Midre Cummings? Omar Dall?
ReplyDeleteWith who? Cairo? Dobbs has been nonexistant.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'll find another.
ReplyDeleteAnyone is better than your PITCHER. That's insane.
ReplyDeleteManny ain't Manny without a needle in his fanny
ReplyDeletedamn!!
ReplyDeleteThats a rough one
ReplyDeleteTurn two
ReplyDeleteDP here!!
ReplyDeleteName the four Phillies who have won NLCS MVP awards.
ReplyDeleteAtta raul
ReplyDeleteHamels, Sarge, Schmidt, Schilling
ReplyDeletenice effort jimmy. Easy hman
ReplyDeleteAll correct but Schmidt.
ReplyDeleteAlmost a great play by Rollins.
Screw you Darling
ReplyDeleteReally? '80? Damn I grew up on "We Win". McBride? Carlton
ReplyDeleteGot 'em!
That was a tough play....although the rule is if it hits your glove you should catch it... just saying
ReplyDeleteThat was so outside!
ReplyDeleteNot bad though 3 of 4 within 1 minute of the question
ReplyDeleteNot McBride or Carlton. Middle infielder if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteBAD MOVE CHARLIE!!!
ReplyDeleteManny trillo.
ReplyDeletefuck!!
Blanton's losing it. He looked so good early in the game.
ReplyDeleteGot tp get out of this
ReplyDeleteManny Trillo is correct. We'll get Wolf out and then the top of the lineup for us. We'll throw a 4-spot up on Wolf. This ump sucks!
ReplyDeleteI'm going out back for my mid-game cigar with the radio. It brought us good luck last year (Burrell's HR against the dodgers last year).
ReplyDeleteGonna need Jimmy to get on base, when he does we score!!
The team needs to keep working the count.
Ok. Phils will be alright..Yeah blanton has been in the pen for a while..he could have lost gas..I would have went with Happ but no prob..Top of the lineup..this team has 2 hits? If I remember correctly rollins and howard had hits in the 1st. Unacceptable
ReplyDeleteBy the time you come back, Phils will be up 6-4.
ReplyDeleteI love Phillies playoff baseball
ReplyDeleteWold and Padilla have had this crazy floater
ReplyDeletemeant wolf
ReplyDeleteVicto!!
ReplyDeleteStand up Triple!! HUGE
ReplyDeleteHow do you hit a triple to left field in Citizens Bank Park?
ReplyDeleteLets get him home!!
GOTTA LOVE THIS TEAM
ReplyDeleteC'mon Utley...
ReplyDeleteI feel lke Nutzo on "above the rim" He owes me!
ReplyDeleteSwing the Bat
ReplyDeleteI think I got that wrong but you hear me
ReplyDeleteYEAH!!!!
ReplyDeleteThere you go Utley!
ReplyDeleteC'mon Howard!
ReplyDeletebb
ReplyDeleteLet's go Werth!
ReplyDeleteSpider - are we sitting on a question? lets go!
ReplyDeleteAfter this inning...
ReplyDeleteClose to 200 posts fellas
ReplyDeleteWhat did he kick it oiut?
ReplyDeleteDamn i saw it now
ReplyDeleteI understand the transfer rule, but I don't think that ever got in his glove!
ReplyDeleteThis is Ibanez time!
ReplyDeleteSON OF A BITCH!!!!
ReplyDeleteFUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great hit! Damn! At least we're hitting the ball hard now.
ReplyDeleteNeed to keep the crowd in it.
Smoked that ball
ReplyDeleteHoward nouthed the same fuck that I did..I think I woke up the neighborhood
ReplyDeleteWow..I meant mouthed
ReplyDeleteWho were the three players that we gave up in the trade for Brad Lidge?
ReplyDeleteSection just txted me: 9 out of 10 that spik misses that.
ReplyDeleteIf that offends anybody wait until section comes back tomorrow
easy. Bourne, Geary and 3rd baseman from philly catholic league that I cannot remember. shit
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of offensive...how bout Buck Martinez saying "Well, we saw Hong Chi Quo..of course we'll now see Chan Ho Park."
ReplyDeleteHo
ReplyDeleteEx Phil initials MC
