No.19 Georgetown 46 Temple 45: Ugly game all around. Georgetown committed 18 fouls and 16 turnovers on their way to winning a squeaker against Temple last night. Temple came back from a 12-point second half deficit to make it a close game down the stretch, but TU’s Ramone Monroe missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with a one-point lead and 23 seconds left on the clock, opening the door for the Hoyas’ Greg Monroe to score on a layup with 6.5 seconds remaining. It was as valiant effort by the Owls, but a poor night at the line (6-13) did them in at the end. Lavoy Allen led all Temple with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
No.1 Kansas 57 Memphis 55: Cole Aldrich had 18 points, 11 rebounds and blocked five shots, helping No. 1 Kansas overcome a sloppy night to hold off Memphis 57-55 in a rematch of the 2008 national championship game Tuesday.
No.2 Mich St 75 Gonzaga 71: Durrell Summers hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with minutes left, made two at the line in the final seconds and finished with 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to help No. 2 Michigan State rally for a 75-71 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday night. The win gave the Spartans their 41st straight home game against a non-conference opponent, their last loss was against Duke on 12/3/03.
Would have been a nice win for Temple.
ReplyDeleteSt Joe squeaked by Holy Cross by 2 also.
Did Temple really score 13 points in the first half?
ReplyDeleteWas the first half that ugly?
