Beltran's Career in Jeopardy?

Wow. From the article:
The Mets confirmed yesterday that Beltran was in Vail, Colo., for a second opinion on his ailing right knee, this one from noted orthopedic surgeon Richard Steadman.

The ominous aspect of that for Beltran and the Mets is that
Steadman is the inventor of microfracture knee surgery, an operation that -- if he opts to have it -- could sideline Beltran for the rest of the season, and potentially jeopardize his career
.

Honestly, I hate the Mets just as much as the next Philly fan, but it's a shame to see a players career put in jeopardy because of an injury. The article goes on to talk about the Mets forcing Beltran to play on his injured knee, most likely causing further damage. That's not right. Sacrificing someone's livelihood for the sake of a few wins is disgraceful - screw them. Beltran is signed with the Mets through 2011, with $18.5 million due in each of the final two years of the contract. Mets suck. Go Phils.

Except when a player injures himself by firing a gun into his leg that was hidden in his sweats at the club. That made me happier than a pig in shit.

  2. That's true. There are definitely exceptions to the rule.

  3. P.S. I know that last comment had nothing to do with Baseball but I hate the Giants as much as I hate the Mets.

    P.P.S. Fuck you 202.

  4. Ok listen RamRod you are probably the biggest loser on this blog. What does Plaxico have to do with anything that was just posted. Next time you comment on something make sure that it is relevant to the subject. This is coming from a guy who was yelling "Ricky Bo" in a high pitched girl voice and didnt even know who he was, or better yet what his last name was. Just so you know in the future ITS BOTALLICO. He was a reliever for the Phils. You wouldnt know that cause you just jumped on the Phils bandwagon last year right around game 5 of the NLCS.

  5. Haha... I'm sorry, 202, I didn't realize you were there when "Ricky Bo" was hanging out. Oh yeah, that's right, you weren't because you were busy jaming frozen hot dogs in your vagina.

Also, take a look at my last comment. Before the part where I sad "Fuck you."

  6. T.O. risked his career to hurry back from an injury -though I believe it was more for his personal glory. McNabb played thru a broken ankle. Utley played thru an injury most of last year. I guess the difference is they didnt leave it up to the team...Didn't the Phillies ask Myers to rehab instead of getting surgery on his most recent injury?

I didn't read the article about them forcing him to play but Myers said no, I'm sure Beltran could have too. China asked Yao to hurry back from an injury to play for his country - he did and now his career may be in jeopardy too.

  7. I wonder if this will make the Mets panic? Sell the farm to get a couple of months of Matt Holiday or somebody. That would be good news for the Phillies long term.

If the Mets keep dropping, you would have to imagine that Omar Minaya's job is in jeopardy. Though he can't control injuries, he is resposible for that underacheiving slop. It's probably more likely that Jerry Manual gets axed instead

  8. The only reason that I didn't go to that game was because I had a wedding to go to the night before. Oh yea you didnt go cause you were the only one that wasn't invited.

  9. I think that you will see Manuel get axed this year at some point. If Beltran cannot come back that is a huge loss especially with who they have in centerfield. I'm not sure that the Mets have much of a farm to make a trade though. I mean they sold off what they had to get Santanna. This could get really ugly for the Mets if they lose Beltran.

  10. Yeah, that is my point. Have them sell what they have left. Fernando Martinez is still their # 1 prospect, I wouldn't mind them trading him for one last failed attempt at the division.

I too was at a wedding the night before, in Reading. Your wedding was in Center City, so your the one who was being the loser. I remember hearing you played in a softball game that day. I guess you shoved the hotdogs up your vaginal cavity after the softball game.

  12. It appears that Beltran is ok after getting a second opinion on his knee. CBS sportsline is reporting that he is targeting a post all star break return.

RamRod just stick to the very little that you know about the Eagles.

  13. Yeah he could be back by the third week of July. The Phils have to bury these scrubs.
Rumors that the Mets are looking at Nick Johnson, Aubrey Huff and Adam Dunn. Can you imagine an outfield of Sheffield, Dunn with Church in the middle? Might be the worst ever
