Brett Myers doesn't seem to happy with the Phillies for not having any interest in resigning the veteran righty. "I wanted to go back to Philadelphia, but they didn't show an interest, they had other obligations, which is fine with me," Myers said. He then promised to "stick it" to the Phillies every time he faces them.(philly.com) The Phillies do not seem all that worried...
The Astros are confident that Myers will not beat his wife anymore. "We did our due diligence, we talked to the Phillies, we talked to Brett and we're satisfied that this is not going to be an ongoing problem," said Team president Tal Smith.
Here is a pretty good piece about the ex-phils, Ed Wade has brought to Houston.

Myers to Sign with Ed Wade
Another Ex-Phil ends up in Houston. Myers will join a rotation featuring Roy Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez. The Astros do not figure to contend again in '010. Myers was 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA and 21 saves in eight years with Philadelphia
I thought he wanted to close? I'm not sure Minute Maid Park is the best fit for this fly ball pitcher but it doesn't seem like his phone was ringing off the hook.

Myers is Gone
Brett Myers has been told that he will no longer be a member of the Phillies.
Brett was the teams top pick in '99 and spent 8 up and down seasons with the Phillies. I did not expect Myers to return but this was done faster than I would have expected. I would think Myers would want to look for a job in the back-end of the bullpen. Brett was 4-3, 4.84 this year.
How will you remember Myers as a Phil?

Myers Closes the Door for the 'Pigs
Brett Myers retired the Pawtucket Red Sox 1-2-3 Tuesday night in his fifth rehab appearance since his surgery. Myers recorded K's for the final 2 outs after retiring Sox prospect Chris Carter on a pop up. Carter was to be the guy involved in the Billy Wagner trade until the Yankees blocked it. He still may go to the Mets but it will not be until after the season.
Myers is scheduled to pitch again tonight. It would be nice to get him back as another option in the 'pen.

Myers Looking Good

With the season-long implosion of Brad Lidge, and Ryan Madsen's inability to pitch an inning after the 8th, news from Reading about Brett Myers' performance last night has got to have the coaching staff talking about a possible change.
Recovering from June 4 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip, Myers made his third rehab appearance last night. Pitching at Double A Reading, he worked the seventh and eighth innings and blew through the Erie Seawolves' lineup: no hits, no runs, one walk, five strikeouts.
He needed just 24 pitches, 17 of them strikes. In his second inning he struck out the side on just 11 pitches. According to the most reliable radar-gun readings, his fastball topped out at 92 and was routinely at 91.
I have to admit, I'm still a little skeptical about Myers' ability to step right into a big league game and revert back to his old form. He's been out of the game for three months now, and striking out five AA bums from Erie is a lot different than striking out Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday. With that said, however, it's certainly worth giving him a shot at this point. Brad Lidge has shown no signs of turning it around, and the Phils don't have any other options to speak of. If he can give them anything resembling a major league closer it will better than what we've been getting for the last four months. I'd welcome his return.
