The Morning After

Phils 6 D-Backs 2: It wasn’t pretty early on, but Jamie Moyer pitched 6-2/3 shutout innings last night, leading the Phils to a 6-2 victory in Arizona and extending their lead in the NL East to 7 games. Grand Slams: Lots of grand slams last night, especially in the NL East. Josh Willingham blasted two grand slams and tied a franchise record with 8 RBI’s in the Nationals 14-6 win over the Brewers. Fernando Tatis hit a go-ahead GS in the 8th inning against the Rockies to put the Mets up for good in a 7-3 victory.  Finally, the Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano hit a walk-off grand slam in the 13th inning against the Astros, giving them a 5-1 victory.

Roy Halladay: Per SI.com’s Jon Heyman, One high-ranking official with one of those clubs put the chances for a deal now at “five percent”….Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi was quoted telling FoxSports.com that the chances for a deal now are “very slim.”

  1. Not sure how Moyer got out of those early innings with 0 runs. He is scary but he continues to win
