Howard Hits 2 Bombs

Ryan Howard blasted his 39th and 40th home runs of the season leading the Phightin Phils to a 9-4 win over the Bravos. The Phils have ended Atlanta's 7 game winning streak and now have won 6 straight. Their magic number is now down to 9, while the Marlins pulled one out of their ass last night against the Reds. James Anthony Happ pitched only 3 innings which is not a good sign. His oblique is clearly still bothering him. So Spider Rico's boy Kendrick came in and pitched four effective innings. Don't get fooled Spider, he is still a bum. The Phils hope to continue this winning streak tonight against the Braves when Ordep (Pedro) takes on Javier Vazquez.

Ryan Howard's two home runs last night put him at 40 home runs and 120 RBI's for the fourth straight year. Forget how many times he strikes out, that only matters in fantasy baseball. It is very rare that a guy like this comes around, and we will be lucky to ever have a home grown player come through our system like this ever again. Over the past four years he has emerged into the best power hitter in the game. The last 4 years (since Howard has become an everyday player) he has 193 home runs, and 552 RBI's. Albert Pujols, who everyone blows, doesn't even stand up to that. He has 165 home runs, with 483 RBI's. We all know what makes this team go, and that is Jimmy Rollins, but he only gets it going. Howard is the one that ends things, he takes what Jimmy starts and buries other teams with his power. He is such a dominant force in the middle of that lineup. Tim Hudson said it best after the game last night. He said:

"I couldn't quite keep the big fellow in the park tonight, I'm scratching my head with this guy. I mean, it seems like every time I pitch against these guys, he takes me deep. I'm obviously not the only guy he does that to. It's one of those things that if I make a mistake, he don't miss it."

Howard is hitting .342 in his career against Atlanta with 31 home runs and 85 RBI's. I think its safe to say that he owns the Braves. Howard's response to this was "It just happens, I like Atlanta. Good food." There you have it, spoken like a true beast.

Howard once again has caught fire in September, and lets hope he can ride this all the way through the playoffs to another World Series title.
