Joe Blanton takes on Randy Wolf as the Phillies and Dodgers meet in Game 4 of the NLCS. If my memory serves me, this was the Matt Stairs game last year that took the wind completely out of the Dodgers sails. The Phillies lead the series 2-1

    4-4 B 10th

  5. Mo Rivera got out of it. They had 1st and 3rd no outs..Wow

    ReplyDelete
  6. Rollins with a leadoff single

    ReplyDelete
  7. Missed the first half... how did Fat Joe look?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Damn - jimmy was running but Victo chased a floater. Pop up

    ReplyDelete
  9. He tied the record for RBI's in postseason games in a row. I think it is 8

    ReplyDelete
  10. Txt from R.H. "Black Babe Ruth"

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just looked it up. Last night he set the record for 7 straight games with an rbi in one postseason but I think he just tied the record over multiple seasons. Maybe TBS will tell us that. Well maybe not

    ReplyDelete
  12. Was it me or did Howard strike out three times before the homer?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah there were some nice pitches down the pike

    ReplyDelete
  14. We're in Wolf's head. Did you see him arguing after the home run?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nice - I almost felt bad for Abreu for his baserunning gaffe

    ReplyDelete
  16. But then I remembered why i didnt really like him in the first place

    ReplyDelete
  17. What happens if there's a balk with no one on base?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Could you imagine how scared Abreu would be to come back to Philly for a World Series?

    ReplyDelete
  19. not a balk then. you can start and stop with nobody on

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hitting was never Bobby's problem. Never saw a trade where 1 team traded a good player in return for nothing yet instantly got better.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anyone up for some random Phillies trivia?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm looking at the Phillies page on Baseball Almanac.

Who was the opening day center fielder for the 2004 Phillies?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Who played the most games in center field for the Phillies in the 1997 season (53 games)?

    ReplyDelete
  24. not even close...Here's a hint..I've never heard of this guy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Glanville? I think he had 2 stints

    ReplyDelete
  26. Doc his glove has been nice tonight

    ReplyDelete
  27. How long can Blanton go today?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Blanton is playing for a World Series start tonight. He's on a mission!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Very happy that Joe The Lumber gets the start tonight. He's pitching awesome as expected. We need more runs! They are going to make a run here.

Charlie harps on player loyalty yet Blanton gets his first start in game 4 of the NLCS, a double-standard?

    ReplyDelete
  30. By the way....I'm ashamed of my user name today, just noticed that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Blanton did nothing to lose his job. The big guy is just versatile

    ReplyDelete
  32. So how come first and third base umpires are not required to wear helmets?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nice- Welcome McNabbulous - yeah tough day for your name

    ReplyDelete
  34. Blanton is the most consistant pitcher on this team.

    Victo covers ground out there!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am thinking because they are supposed to watch the ball. 1st and 3rd base coaches are watching the pitcher and the runner

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nope, Nope

What took the ump so long to call that fair?

    ReplyDelete
  37. '97 was the Rob Ducey era right? not Rob Ducey?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tartabull played 1 game didnt he...Great free agent signing!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ducey is my hero! Not Amaro or Ducey!

Damn! Need to get out of this with only one run.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Can I give this answer to you? No one is going to get it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Eventually one will take it off the noggin

    ReplyDelete
  42. Write a letter to Selig. Get your name out there

    ReplyDelete
  43. BEAT LA!...BEAT LA!!...BEAT LA!!!!

    crowds needs to get juiced...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think I just heard Namesake yell - F' you J Martin!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Blanton needs to get out of this. He'll be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  46. can someone please tell me what the J stands for? Probably Jaime or some shit like that.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Good throw Utley. You know he throught twice about that!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I kind of remember it was a tribute to his mom or something..not sure exactly

    ReplyDelete
  49. Bats have to wake up. Lets go PHILS!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dodgers are gonna give us a fight here...

What's everyone's take on Hamels thus far? Is he totally just lost this year or does he have two good starts in him to salvage the year?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I hate him, but he needs to come back if we're going to win the World Series.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have trust in Hamels..He just can't let things get to him - thats been the problem. I'll see him throw on Wednesday

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hates a strong word for your defending NLCS and WS MVP spider

    ReplyDelete
  54. Actually I think Moyer is going to help him a lot between now and his next start.

I think he's too talented to not get out of this slump.

I'm also very glad that he apologized for his actions towards Rollins/Utley.

    ReplyDelete
  55. McNabbulous..Remember, I hated him during the playoffs/world series last year.

    I know he's a great pitcher, but I just don't like him.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hman - get in on this..What are your thoughts on Hamels?

    ReplyDelete
  57. He's definitely not the type of player whose jersey I'd buy (I have a Howard) but I give him all of the respect in the world bc he brought us our first championship in 25 years.

Lee is everything Hamels is not. I bet you love Lee.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think he is pitching no different then the reg season, so like doc I think he is due for a great outing but he will not be consistent for the rest of the post

    ReplyDelete
  59. Who was the opening day starter for the 2001 Phillies?

I'll give respect to Hamels because he was amazing last year. I just personally don't like him.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have a Thome Jersey..pissed I can't wear it..Even though he is still on payroll

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hamels problem is that he didn't really prepare in the offseason and he never really got it back.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I do like Lee a lot, you're right.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Is there another past/present/future Phila athlete that is similar to Hamels?

    ReplyDelete
  64. BTW - this live blog is the $hit - i love this. It's like having a great sports debate at the bar watching the game, but not really at the bar haha. Can we curse mildly on here or will they kick us off?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I heard lefty was a little off but I can't Hamels in his class

    ReplyDelete
  66. Person and Wolf are incorrect.

    Ricky Waters? Is that Fair?

"I won't play unless we're in the race"

    "For who, for what?"

    ReplyDelete
  67. I dont buy that he is that selfish. He is a pampered routine guy, thats all.

Omar Dall? Scub they got for Schilling? Not Padilla?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Omar Daal is correct.

Sorry, the Ricky Waters was below the belt. I don't even believe that.

    ReplyDelete
  69. McNabbulous...Curse away brother

    ReplyDelete
  70. The Ricky Watters analogy is a borderline violation.

He's a California pampered routine guy that if he didn't play out of his mind last postseason would probably get run out of town by the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Funny you bring up Schill. There were some rumblings that he was looking to come back for one final postseason run. Imagine him pitching tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  72. He might still get run out of town. His wife is going to take him to LA once he's free agent eligible.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Imagine Schill and Martinez in your bullpen?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Think Happ can finish the game? I am terrified of the bullpen

    ReplyDelete
  75. IF Ruiz gets on yes. This would be a good spot for Happ.

    ReplyDelete
  76. These hitters need to work a few walks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. If he bats I prob would..Just cause I need runs and Happ can pitch innings

    ReplyDelete
  78. We would need to double the size of the bullpen for their EGOs.

    There's the walk!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. He's pitching around Blanton. He's scared

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dare I say it...Similar game as last year where Phils were down until Victo homered and then Stairs hit that bomb? I love this team

    ReplyDelete
  81. I like the call. Maybe Pedro Feliz is this year's hero.

    ReplyDelete
  82. More trivia. so far I have been out of my league. Midre Cummings? Omar Dall?

    ReplyDelete
  83. With who? Cairo? Dobbs has been nonexistant.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anyone is better than your PITCHER. That's insane.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Manny ain't Manny without a needle in his fanny

    ReplyDelete
  86. Name the four Phillies who have won NLCS MVP awards.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hamels, Sarge, Schmidt, Schilling

    ReplyDelete
  88. All correct but Schmidt.

Almost a great play by Rollins.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Really? '80? Damn I grew up on "We Win". McBride? Carlton

    Got 'em!

    ReplyDelete
  90. That was a tough play....although the rule is if it hits your glove you should catch it... just saying

    ReplyDelete
  91. Not bad though 3 of 4 within 1 minute of the question

    ReplyDelete
  92. Not McBride or Carlton. Middle infielder if I remember correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Blanton's losing it. He looked so good early in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Manny Trillo is correct. We'll get Wolf out and then the top of the lineup for us. We'll throw a 4-spot up on Wolf. This ump sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I'm going out back for my mid-game cigar with the radio. It brought us good luck last year (Burrell's HR against the dodgers last year).

Gonna need Jimmy to get on base, when he does we score!!

The team needs to keep working the count.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Ok. Phils will be alright..Yeah blanton has been in the pen for a while..he could have lost gas..I would have went with Happ but no prob..Top of the lineup..this team has 2 hits? If I remember correctly rollins and howard had hits in the 1st. Unacceptable

    ReplyDelete
  97. By the time you come back, Phils will be up 6-4.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I love Phillies playoff baseball

    ReplyDelete
  99. Wold and Padilla have had this crazy floater

    ReplyDelete
  100. How do you hit a triple to left field in Citizens Bank Park?

    Lets get him home!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. I feel lke Nutzo on "above the rim" He owes me!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I think I got that wrong but you hear me

    ReplyDelete
  103. Spider - are we sitting on a question? lets go!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I understand the transfer rule, but I don't think that ever got in his glove!

    ReplyDelete
  105. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. That was a great hit! Damn! At least we're hitting the ball hard now.

Need to keep the crowd in it.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Howard nouthed the same fuck that I did..I think I woke up the neighborhood

    ReplyDelete
  108. Who were the three players that we gave up in the trade for Brad Lidge?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Section just txted me: 9 out of 10 that spik misses that.

If that offends anybody wait until section comes back tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  110. easy. Bourne, Geary and 3rd baseman from philly catholic league that I cannot remember. shit

    ReplyDelete
  111. Speaking of offensive...how bout Buck Martinez saying "Well, we saw Hong Chi Quo..of course we'll now see Chan Ho Park."
