Belichick

I am so sick and tired of listening to everyone ripping Bill Belichick for going for it on 4th and 2 with 2 minutes left in the game. I mean think about it, if you punt the ball you are giving it back to the best quarterback in football who has been marching up and down the field the whole game. Bill Belichick is a hall of fame coach that has way more super bowl rings than any analyst that is going to sit there and rip him. I only wish that Andy Reid had half the balls that Belichick has. Andy Reid probably would have brought out Akers for a 82 yard field goal. That seems to be his new move. Bring Akers in when you are down 15 in the 4th quarter. Personally I love the call, and he even said himself that he would do it again if the situation came up. He said that he was putting his team in the best position to win, and that was exactly what he was doing by going for it. Get rid of Andy Reid and bring someone in that isn't afraid to make bold moves to win football games, like Belichick.

  1. Yeah...but it was still a bad move. It was a call you would only make in a Madden game and i'm glad that smug asshole is getting ripped.

  2. He may be a smug asshole, but he knows how to win football games. That's more than you can say about Fat Andy

  4. People are ripping him because it was a horrible call. If he's around mid-field, you can make the argument but he's holding a 6-pt lead with 2-minutes on your OWN 25-yd line. You are playing against Peyton Manning, but the chances of him going 75 yards in under two minutes with only one timeout are far less than him going 25 yards. It goes against all football logic. Even if he made it, I think he would've been criticized that it was a bad move. His own former player (Bruschi) said that this may hurt them in the longer term because it proves that he doesn't trust his defense and it completely disrespects their defensive players.

Would I take him over Andy Reid? Yes...but don't even try to justify his move by saying "giving it back to the best quarterback in football who has been marching up and down the field the whole game". That's ridiculous!

  5. The outcome of punting the ball or not getting it on 4th down would have been the same. Peyton would have scored anyway. Its not ridiculous Spider. It doesn't matter how much time was left in the game. Peyton is better out of the no huddle offense anyway. The Colts would have scored regardless of what the Patriots did there.

Bruschi is saying that because he was the defensive captain for years with the Pats. He is a defensive minded player and wants to be on the field in that situation. The Colts scored 14 points already in the 4th quarter before they went ahead. The defense clearly could not stop the Colts attack. Its not ridiculous to say what I said Spider.

  6. This is the New England Patriots we're talking about. They are supposed to be one of the top five teams in the league. Football games are all about managing risks, and if they are thinking, "well, whatever we do, the Colts are going to score anyway" and go for it on 4th down deep in their own territory they should be compared to the Rams or the Chiefs instead.

  7. To say that they would have scored either way, is pretty ridiculous. Peyton is probably the best I have ever seen but he still had to score a touchdown and had thrown 2 picks already. Could he have done it? No doubt about it but it was no foregone conclusion.

Bottom line is that Belichick had more confidence in Brady picking up that yard and a half then he did in his defense. He understood that if Brady failed to get it, he would lose.

I think it was a bad call but I think you would see more of that if New England played in more close games. BB goes for it on 4th more than anybody, and no matter the score.

  9. But the Andy in him didn't have any timeouts. I wish those 2 teams played every week. Those 2 and Pittsburgh are the "Gold Standard"...Hear that Lurie
