The Morning After

In honor of Hank Baskett knocking her up, please say hello to Kendra Wilkinson. Attaboy, Hank!

Now on to last night's recap...

Phils 5 Mets 4 (11): Chase Utley's 11th inning HR to right field, his second of the game, lifted the Phils over the Mets 5-4 last night. Cole Hamels had a rough night, giving up 4 runs on 11 hits in 5 innings. The bullpen did their part, however, with Ho coming through big with two scoreless innings in the 9th and 10th, Ryan Madsen got the save. Jayson Werth made a spectacular diving catch in the 10th that would have won the game for the Mets if it had gotten past him.

Sawx 6 Yanks 5: The Red Sox beat the Yankees for the 7th straight time this year. Mark Teixeira had 4 hits, including his AL leading 19th HR. Chien-Ming Wang fell to 0-4 on the season with an ERA over 20. The Yanks are now a game back of the Sawx in the AL East.

Detroit 2 Chicago 1: Justin Verlander pitched a complete game last night, giving up 1 run while striking out 9 and only walking 1. He improved his record to 7-2 with an ERA of 3.02. Former Phil Jim Thome hit his 11th HR to score Chicago's lone run.

NFL News: The Jets signed 1st Round Pick Mark Sanchez to a five year deal worth a reported $60 million, including $28 million guaranteed. The $60 mil deal is $18 mil less than what 1st overall pick Matt Stafford recieved from the Lions - Sanchez must feel like such a loser.

Namesake 107 Doc 95 : Gained 37 pts on you last night, Doc. My boy Wandy was nasty!

  1. Sanchez is going to suck in the NFL. Especially with the Jets.

Eagles expected to announce a deal with Ingram today.

  2. Nothing more sweeter in life than to see a New York team go down. I hate New York! Mets had that game wrapped up-but blew the chance--Kid Hamels had a tough night but kept the Phils in it! Kid Utley is amazing-Kid Madson will not want to give up closer role. Pressure on Mets tonight!!!

  3. It is pretty amazing that in a game that he hit 2 home runs, including the game winnner, I think Utley's at bat where he stepped out of the box and INTO Pelfrey's head was the game changer.

Pelfrey was pretty dominant before that and although he got Utley to ground out to end the inning - he fell apart the next inning. Ok maybe it also had to do with Beltran dropping a relatively easy fly ball and Wright booting a grounder but still..That should be the game plan every time Pelfrey pitches. This is the same guy that had 3 balks in 1 game a few weeks back - loses focus pretty easily.

Also an amazing play by Werth to save Ho's ass. Not a bad win, to come back in a game like that when the ACE clearly did not have it.

  4. I'm not sold on Sanchez either. He was drafted because he had the personality to survive in New York but I still go back to Pete Carroll saying that it was a bad move for him to go Pro. That tells me something because coaches rarely say that (unless Carroll is worried that Sanchez may spill the beans about how much money the USC players are making)

  5. Any chance Moyer survives more than 4 innings tonight?

I was hoping Utley would call time again just to piss that lankey dickhead off. He now has 3 homers in the same spot.

And what the fuck is with the Mets pitching getting all these hits.
