The Morning After

What you missed last night while listening to Chris Wheeler say 'Rock Around the Cock' in the top of the 9th...genius.

Phils 10 Rays 1: Man does it feel good for the Phils to be on the road again. They came out swinging last night, putting up a 6 spot in the top of the 1st while cruising to a 10-1 victory in Tampa Bay. Chase Utley (16) and John Mayberry (3) both homered in the game, combining for 7 RBI's overall. Jamie Moyer pitched 6 strong innings, giving up 1 ER and 5 hits, as the Fightins improved their road record to a baseball-best 24-9. How about they never come home? I think I'd be ok with that.

Cardinals 3 Mets 0: Joel Pineiro pitched a complete game shutout last night, holding the Mets to only 2 hits for the game and inducing an incredible 22 groudouts from New York. Pineiro also contributed at the plate, doubling, singling and scoring a run. Albert Pujols had 2 RBI's in the winning effort. The win is Pineiro's first in five outings, bringing his record to 6-8 on the year.

Texas 5 LSU 1: Freshman Taylor Jungmann held LSU to five hits in his first complete game, leading Texas to a 5-1 victory in Game 2 of the CWS. Russell Moldenhauer hit his fourth HR of the CWS, becoming only the 10th player in history to record such a feat. Game 3 will be held on Wednesday night for the National Championship, winner take all.

NBA Trades: The Wizards and Timberwolves have agreed in principle to a deal that would send Randy Foye and Mike Miller to Washington in exchange for the No.5 pick in Thursday's NBA Draft. If the deal goes through Minnesota would have the Nos. 5 and 6 picks in the lottery. The trade would upgrade the Wizards backcourt significantly with Gilbert Arenas now playing alongside Miller, and Foye most likely coming off the bench. It will be interesting to see if the T'wolves decide to keep both picks, or if they will try to move up even higher in the draft.

  1. I love it when the Fightens win and the Mets lose! How about Kid Mayberry? What a swing Utley put on that home run--of course--Price threw it in such a sweet spot!
Jamie Moyer gives up 1 run--wish we could see more of that! Mayberry, Taylor, Howard--my God--what a lineup that could be next year! Of course--Mayberry or Taylor won't be here--I really like Mayberry but from what I read--Taylor has a bigger upside.

How nice it is to have a farm system that has some talent---I sleep better knowing Pat Gillick is still involved with us---to me---he has been the 'Tipping Point" acquisition for Phils!!!!

    Joe Doc

  2. How nice is it to have a fan base that has some talent. Think she works at McFadden's?

  3. I loved it when Wheels messed up and said "Rock around the Cock". If anyone missed that i suggest that you try to go back and watch the beginning of the bottom half of the 9th. Priceless.

The Phils looked pretty good last night against Price. The bats finally came alive. That catch Rollins made off of the speaker in left was pretty sweet. I am still wondering why there are speakers and catwalks in play at that stadium. I think its time to force Tampa Bay to either move or get a new stadium. That is Bush League with all of those obstacles.

As Nard Dog would say "Yay Mayberry" what a loser.

  4. It was "yeah Mayberry." Retard.

  5. That stadium is pretty bad. There are no Tampa fans down there. They are all retired Phillies and Yankee fans.
