The Morning After

AL 4 NL 3: In the top of the eighth inning, Curtis Granderson hit a one-out triple to left, and after an intentional walk to Kevin Youkilis, Baltimore's Adam Jones knocked in Granderson with a sacrifice fly off of Heath Bell. That is right National League, the AL gets home field advantage because a player on a last place team knocked in the winning run off of a player on a last place team..

Carl Crawford went 1-3 but robbed a NL home run in the 7th to earn ASG MVP honors. Jonathan Papelbon earned the Win and Mariano Rivera earned his 4th career ASG Save - an ASG record. Heath Bell took the Loss. Shane Victorino went 1-2 with a run scored as the only Phil to get a hit.

Phils: The Phils agree to terms with Pedro Martinez. Martinez is a three-time Cy Young Award winner who has finished in the top four in voting for the award seven times. He went 5-6 with a 5.67 ERA last year with the Mets.

Eagles - Donovan McNabb is hanging out at a topless pool in vegas getting ready for the season. I thought Domowitch told me Camp Donovan was starting in Arizona? I bet you Hank Baskett had something to do with this.

  1. Heath Bell is awful by the way. I am not really sure why he is an All Star. I know that he has 23 saves this year, but he is the closer for one of the worst teams in baseball. The NL hasn't won an All Star game since '96. Pretty embarrassing.

Despite signing Pedro, I read this morning that this will not effect the Phillies trading for another starter. I like the 1 yr. 1 million dollar contract. Scouts are saying that he is throwing better than last year and is in great shape.

  2. If "Awful" is defined as 3-1, 1.69 ERA and 42 K's in 37 IP, then I agree with you.

  3. Bell has a 0.00 ERA with 5Ks and two saves against the Phils this year (in three games).

I still don't care about the All-Star game winner. I know that home-field in the WS is big, but I'll worry about that in October.

How about Chalie intentionally walking someone in the All-Star game? Has that ever happened before? I guess he thinks this game is important.
