Phils Lose...That Doesn't Sound Right.

D-Backs 4 Phils 0: Justin Upton hit a 2-run HR and drove in three runs as the D-Backs avoided the sweep and beat the Phils 4-0 last night in Arizona.  In what might have been his last outing as a starter, J.A. Happ lasted 6 innings and gave up two runs on only three hits.  Happ is expected to be moved into the bullpen with the arrival of lefty ace Cliff Lee to the club.  This was only the sixth time the Phils have lost in their last 25 games; they lead the NL East by six games.  Shane Victorino left the game in the 7th with a left knee contusion, an injury he sustained while making a diving catch in the 1st inning.  Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

How pumped are you for Cliff Leff? The trade has to make the Phils frontrunners in the NL – if they weren’t already. I know he’s not Roy Halladay, but he’s not too far behind, and Hamels-Lee-Blanton in the playoffs is going to be nasty! I’m hoping his first start will be Saturday against Tim Lincecum. That would be a hell of a first test in the NL.

  1. Donald was going to be a utility player for the Phils with Utley and Rollins blocking him.

Marson had a chance to challenge Chooch next year but I am ok with Chooch. Plus they have a guy, D'Arnaud, in the low minors who (apparently)has a big upside.

Carrasco may turn out to be a good pitcher but I kind of get the feeling he was turning into a Gavin Floyd type guy - who needed a change of scenery. Everything I have heard about him is that he has the stuff but not the head. Thats not a philly guy.

Knapp could very well be a star someday but he is 18.

    Great deal!
