Lee to Start Game 1

Chalie announced this afternoon that Cliff Lee will start game 1 over Cole Hamels. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner got the nod over Cole Hamels, who was MVP of the World Series and NLCS last year. Hamels will start Game 2. If the series goes five games, manager Charlie Manuel will have his choice between the two left-handers. Joe Blanton and J.A. Happ will be in the bullpen for the first two games, an indication of how Manuel feels about his relief corps. Both are candadates to pitch games 3 and 4.

I think this is a smart move. Even though Cole only pitched 3 innings on Saturday, he loves his routine, so it is better for him not to pitch on 3 nights rest.
