Nova Picked as Big East Favorite

Villanova is picked to win the Big East Conference, receiving 10 first place votes in the coaches poll. West Viginia, received 5 first place votes and are picked 2nd with UCONN third.

Notre Dame's Luke Harangody was named preseason player of the year for the second straight year, joining Patrick Ewing as the only players to ever be picked more than once.

Joining him on the six-man preseason first team were seniors Deonta Vaughn of Cincinnati, Lazar Hayward of Marquette, Scottie Reynolds of Villanova and Da'Sean Butler of West Virginia, and sophomore Greg Monroe of Georgetown.

The Big East is confused and does not understand that only five players play at once.

Villanova will once again have a top flight back court with Scottie Reynolds, Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes. Reggie Redding has been suspended for the Fall Semester for his inability to stay away from the marajuana. Incoming freshmen Dominic Cheek and Maalik Wayns are both McDonald’s All-Americans and will fight for playing time. Nova is coming off of a 30 win season and a final 4 berth.

  1. Nova should be good again, especially since Reynolds (smartly) came back--wasn't prepared to hand over the PG reigns to Fisher full-time.

Looks like they have 37 guards this year. I do like Jay Wright, and he seems to have turned them into a perennial contender, but he needs to start recruiting guys over 6'6.

Holy War December 9. It's only the Holy War when it's played at the Palestra.
