Postseason look at Preseason predictions

Hers is a look back at your fearless forecasters preseason predictions. Some good, some painfully bad. Lets take a look at Divisional Predictions:

Preseason Predictions and Actual Finish:
NL East: Phils (93-69), Marlins(87-75), Braves (86-76), Mets (70-92), Nats (59-103)

Doc: Phils (91-71), Mets (88-74), Braves (82-80), Marlins (78-84), Nats (65-97): 2 wins off for the Phils

Sec202: Phils (92-70), Mets (90-72), Marlins (88-74), Braves (81-81), Nats (62-100): 1 win off for the Phils and Fish

Namesake: Phils (94-68), Mets (91-71), Marlins (85-79), Braves (83-79), Nats (72-90): 1 win off for the Phils, 2 off for Fish

Section202 and Namesake were pretty damn good other than the Mets. Doc was horrible. More after the jump.

NL Central: Cards, Cubs, Brewers, Reds, Astros, Pirates

Doc: Cubs, Reds, Houston, Cards, Brewers, Pirates
Sec202: Houston, Cubs, Cards, Reds, Brewers, Pirates
Namesake: Cubs, Reds, Cards, Brewers, Houston, Pirates

Terrible all around. We all have the Pirates right even though Section is still confused about a Buc.

NL West: Dodgers, Rockies, Giants, Padres, D’Backs

Doc: Dodgers, D’backs, Giants, Rockies, Padres
Sec202: D’backs, Rockies, Dodgers, Giants, Padres
Namesake: D’backs, Dodgers, Giants, Rockies, Padres

Surprisingly Doc was only one to nail the Dodgers. D’backs lost 98 games after being predicted by two to win the division.

AL East: Yankees, Sox, Rays, Jays, O’s

Doc: Sox, Rays, Yankees, O’s, Jays
Sec202: Sox, Yankees, Rays, Jay’s, O’s
Namesake: Yankees, Sox, Jays, Rays, O’s

Again, Doc has pathetic picks, and Sec202 and Namesake almost nailed it.

AL Central: Twins, Tigers (or Tigers, Twins), Sox, Royals and Indians (tied)

Doc: Twins, Tigers, Indians, Sox, Royals
Sec202: Royals, Sox, Twins, Indians, Tigers
Namesake: Indians, Tigers, Twins, White Sox, Royals

Royals? Indians? Wait a second…Royals?

AL West: Angels, Rangers, Mariners, A’s

Doc: A’s, Angels, Rangers, Mariners
Sec202: Angels, Mariners, Rangers, A’s
Namesake: Angels, A’s, Mariners, Rangers

Another last place team predicted to win the division. Idiot. Namesake and Section got the Angels

Other predictions, possibly foolish, that were made in the preseason.

Doc: Cinci is this year’s surprise team. Mets get swept on final weekend of year to fall into virtual tie with Cinci and Cinci wins on tie-breakers or a play-in game. Yanks are again all-hype and finish tied with the Rays behind the BoSox, Girardi is canned mid-season and has a book out by next spring. Howard hits.235 with 48 homers. Utley wins the batting crown. Hamels wins 18 games. Moyer wears down and is put on DL and is basically a pitching coach by July. Phils package Carrasco, Happ and Donald for Peavy (knowing that they will let Myers walk after the season) at the deadline to help win the division but Peavy struggles in the postseason.

Sec202: Fantasy Champ = Section 202 (like I said possibly foolish)

Namesake: Howard leads league with 52 homers (3rd with 45)

Coming soon will be Awards and playoff predictions, made in the preseason.
