The Phillies are exploring interest in Joe Blanton. He is up for arbitration this year and stands to be a free agent next year. The list of available pitchers continues to grow.
I am not sure what his return value would be but I like Blanton as a middle of the rotation guy. He pitched very well after a slow start last year. I think it would be risky trading him for a cheaper version. My feeling is that he isn't going anywhere.

I wouldn't want Blanton to go either. He keeps the ball in the park and throws a heavy ball. That would be a huge risk to that rotation if he was traded.
ReplyDeleteThey could be shopping him for a setup guy with closing experience (Sherrill?). Still just a random rumor..
