Would Ya?

Rather trade Donovan McNabb to an NFC contender like Arizona or Minnesota or trade Kolb to a rebuilding team like St. Louis?

What do you think?

McNabb lives in Arizona, Childress coaches in Minnesota and Spags coaches in St Louis...That is why these 3 were picked. Feel free to pick another team...with a reason.

Scenario:

A) Arizona offers their 1st rd pick 26ish for Donovan.

B) Minnesota offers their first rd pick 29ish for Donovan

C) St Louis offers their second round pick 33rd for Kolb

What is your choice? Assuming a extension is in order for the guy that stays?

  1. I would package up Kolb first unless you can get a high first round pick for McNabb.

  2. Couple things:

    1. I was drunk when I posted this so these scenarios might not be accurate.

    2. I don't think there are many teams willing to give a 1 but Minnesota and Arizona might because of the quality of their team and the possibility of losing their QB. I belive McNabb would rather play there too.

    3. Arizona is the best fit: Could they get Boldin instead of a 1st? Would you rather Boldin instead of a 1st?

If Mcnabb is willing to play on a 1 year contract than I am willing to let him. I DO NOT want an extension right now. My thought is that the Eagles have a better chance to win next year with McNabb than they do Kolb. That is with McNabb playing for a contract.. I don't think he is willing, so I would try to trade him.

  3. McNabb will definitely not play with a lame duck contract.

As much as I love him, as you can see by my handle name, the team needs to change. Things are getting stale.

I don't think by trading McNabb, this team automatically goes into a re-building stage. If you take a look at this offense, there's more talent than ever AND they're very young. I think Kolb can absolutely come into that offense and win ball games.

    WRs: Jackson, Maclin, Avant
    TE: Celek
    RB: McCoy & Weaver
O-Line: Peters, Herremans, Jackson, Andrews, Justice

    I like that offense!

Here's the question, Kolb is on the final year of his contract as well. I DEFINITELY wait until at least mid-season to re-sign him long term.

  4. Thank you McNabbulous. I must say, with your handle, I was nervous. But you make perfect sense. It speaks volumes that even you sees that McNabb needs to go.

Also, I don't care who McNabb gets traded to. I will lose no sleep over the possibility of him coming back to haunt us.
Who knows, the Linc grass may actually have time to grow and turn green.

I agree on Kolb. No need to jump the gun in extending him long-term. Hopefully he doesn't have Reid's agent...

  5. Right after the season ended, I was on board to get rid of McNabb and start clean, but the more I think of it, it's the wrong move.

We have the type of team that has the ability to win now, and as much as everyone hates to admit it, McNabb is still the guy who gives us the best chance to do that. Is he the best QB in the league? Absolutely not! Is he top 5? No way! Is he better than Kolb and Vick?...Yes!

I know everyone is sick of the same ending to each season, but what makes you think it will be any different with another QB? Andy Reid will be still making the calls, the defense will still not be able to tackle, Brian Dawkins will still be on the Broncos and our offensive line will never be what it was 3 years ago.

Kolb looked good in his two starts this season and in a different situation, I think it would be a good idea to give him the reigns, but (I'm sadly going to quote Bill Conlin) you don't give the keys to a Ferrari to a guy with a learners permit.

This offense has the potential to be sick, and although McNabb isn't the perfect QB for it, he's better than our other options.

Our main question should be on the defense. We played an entire season without a safety we need depth at linebacker.

So to answer your question...no, I wouldn't make that trade unless I was getting an established QB in the deal (not Sage Rosenfels or Matt Lienert)
