Can You Blame Them?

Mets blog Amazinavenue charts how the Mets make decisions. Seems about right. Click on the picture to make it bigger.

While the Phillies are attracting elite talent like Roy Halladay, the Mets are being turned away by average players even thought their offers are as good or better. Bengie Molina turned down the Mets in favor of staying with the Giants even though the Mets offered a half a million more.

Today Joel Pineiro turned away the Mets in favor of the Angels. The Mets did outbid themselves for Jason Bay but even he didn't seem to happy about it.

Last year at this time, the Mets were thought to be World Series contenders. This year, a punchline.
