Let the Hype Begin: Drabek throws 7 Scoreless

Kyle Drabek threw 7 shutout innings in his Reading Phillies debut Wednesday night. He struck out 4, walked 3 and allowed 3 hits. His last start for Clearwater was a complete game shutout. GM Ruben Amaro, special assistant Dallas Green and Dickie Noles were behind home plate watching.

Hopefully there will be no bum talk about this guy.

  1. There is question whether his 1st pitch was ACTUALLY 99MPH, but they say he sits around 95-96 normally. That's still awesome. I'm not good at reading pitchers against minor league talent, but I'm definitely excited about this guy. He seems to have good stuff.

One more pitching injury and we could see him or Savery in South Philadelphia.

  2. I heard a scout on the radio saying Drabek is going to be the next Cole Hamels. Those are high expectations, but he definitely seems like the real deal so far.
