The Morning After
Phils 10 Cubs 1: Rodrigo Lopez allowed 1 run in 6 innings, striking out 5 and scattering 5 hits. Raul Ibanez hit a 3-run bomb in the first and Chooch Ruiz tacked on a 2-run bomb in the second. The Phillies knocked around All-Star pitcher Ted Lilly for 9 runs, 7 earned, over 4 innings. Chad Durbin pitched the final 3 innings for his first save. 9 straight...
A's 14 Twins 13: The A's rallied from 10 down to beat the Twins. Matt Holliday hit a game tying grand slam in the seventh inning and Jack Cust followed with another bomb in a game featuring eight homers. Holliday also had a two-run home run. This was the largest comback in Oakland history. The final out of the game had Michael Cuddyer trying to score on a wild pitch and Oakland pitcher Michael Wuertz making the tag on a VERY questionable call.
Braves 11 Giants 3: Tommy Hanson struck out 11 hitters outdueling Jonathan Sanchez, who was coming off of the only no-hitter of the season. Chipper Jones, Garrett Anderson and Ryan Church all homered for the Braves who stay 6.5 games behind the Phils in the East.
