Phils 7 Rockies 0: Now that’s more like it! J.A. Happ threw a complete game shutout last night against the Rockies, giving up only four hits and striking out ten on the way to his 8th win of the season.  Happ’s ERA is now at a team-low 2.74, top-10 in the NL.  How can you justify taking this guy out of the rotation? The Rockies are one of the hottest teams in baseball and he made them look like the Norristown A’s last night!  I don’t see how you can even make the argument for Happ to be dropped to the bullpen, not just because of his performance last night, but for his performance all season.  If Pedro is on his way up to the big leagues after his game last night, then Charlie has an important decision to make.  Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing Jamie Moyer spend some time on the “DL” until we see how things play out with Pedro.

The bats came back to life last night, too. Jimmy Rollins (13), Jayson Werth (23) and Pedro Feliz (7) all homered last night, Rollins’ hitting streak is up to 11 games. Ryan Howard had an RBI single in the 1st inning to kick things off.  The Phils lead is at 6 games after the Marlins loss last night.

  1. The Norristown A's were hoping the umps implemented the mercy rule last night.
